Adventures of juicing
As some of you may or may not know, I too have been following a partial juice fast along with Miya. My daily meals usually consist of, of juice/smoothie for breakfast, salad for lunch at work, and either a healthy dinner (usually steamed veggies and rice) or another juice for dinner, depending on how hungry I am. I started doing this on May 16th, and at the beginning I was so excited to start that I pretty much juiced every meal. I soon learned that changing my eating habits so suddenly was a mistake, as I became extremely ill 2 days later. Thankfully my symptoms didn't last long, and haven't been a problem since.
So far after almost 3 weeks I've only lost 4lbs, but I've been seeing many differences elsewhere. Since I changed my diet I rarely feel some of the cravings that I used to encounter daily. Milk, sweets, meat, coffee, and bread are rarely a part of my diet nowadays, and I've noticed that over time, I've begun to lose the temptation to stray toward these items as my "comfort foods" like I did before.
Since I haven't been seeing a whole lot of weight loss, I've also begun working out again. I already owned one Jillian Michaels workout dvd that I used to enjoy doing, although the moves had begun to grow a little old, so I decided to purchase a new dvd of hers, along with some new weights, and I'm now on day 5 of my workout plan. I'm already feeling the difference in my energy level, as well as my mood, and I'm hoping that over time I'll be able to perhaps walk up a hill and not feel so out of breath by the time I'm at the top!
Since May 16th, my measurements have dropped thusfar:
Weight: 196.3lbs down to 189.8lbs (4lbs)
Bust: 43in down to 41in (2in)
Upper Arm: 13.5in down to 13in (1/2in)
Waist: 36in down to 33 3/4in (2 1/4in)
Belly: 39 1/2in down to 39in (1/2in)
Hips: 47in down to 46 1/4in (3/4in)
Thigh: 29in down to 28in (1in)
Calf: 19in down to 18 1/4in (3/4in)
I'm really hoping I continue to see progress like this! Unfortunately I neglected to take "before" pictures, so I don't really have anything good to compare present photos to, but from now on I plan on being more diligent about that, in the meantime you can feast your eyes on the work in progress as of today.
Yep, that's something that few people are ever graced to witness. A photo of me, where I'm not sucking in my belly. Enjoy. And don't mind my mismatched socks, my fashion sense pretty much flies out the window when I'm in workout clothes!

With those measurements, it's very clear that you're losing fat and building muscle - me, I don't exercise NEARLY as much as you do, which is why my weight loss only appears to be greater - I'm only losing fat, not building muscle. So, technically, you're doing WAY better than I am! I need to find my measuring tape so I can start taking measurements again... I'm pretty sure Ringo dragged if off somewhere and ate it!
ReplyDeleteYou're right about the cravings, too. I used to really, REALLY want toast in the mornings. I haven't had any bread (and only two coffees) in over a month, and I didn't even realize it until I read your post!
It's about time we stop sucking in our tummies for society! Gotta work on our bodies in case of the zombie apocalypse!
...is Ash trying to weigh herself, or stand on her head?
Haha, I have no idea! She's gotten into the habit of trying to murder my bathroom rug, she's already pulled out multiple threads. Oh and I also forgot to tell everyone, that my skin has been clearing up a lot too since I started this!
DeleteLucky you! My face has turned into Spot Central lately. Then again, my back has been remarkably clear since I started... I'm hoping my face clears up as I go along.
