Out with the old....in with the new
Cleaning up and throwing out.
No, not spring cleaning....but clean eating.
I am going through my chest freezer and pantry shelves and unloading stuff that either isn't good or doesn't have a long long way to go to its expiration date.
Out goes the frozen pizza and corndogs, the bag of tater tots that I am sure is still lurking in the lower depths....
Out goes the sugar-filled box mixes.
If its not staring me in the face it becomes less of a temptation.
Saturday I head over to Sams Club and load up on bulk cuts of chicken breast, fresh cheese and veggies.
Yup, Saturday heralds my final step from eating healthier to starting Dad's diet plan. With a few modifications....I am still allowing myself steamed rice (no butter) at dinner and a wider range of veggies. I am also taking Jason's lead and going for the couple of high grain/low fat crackers (just not Wheat Thins....ewwwwwwww) and some cheese cubes for lunch each day rather than eating so much meat. Easy to pack at the beginning of the week for a girl who doesn't take the time to make anything before running off to work. I am also allowing myself hummus....mmmmmmmmmmm. I have been thinking about it for awhile and think I really need to cut back on my meat consumption and compensating with more veggies.
I am officially no longer craving soda....haven't for about 2 weeks now (I am a little over 3 weeks without soda). Today at work I polished off 72 ounces of water and am refilling my bottle for the ride home. I am noticing that I am starting to feel a lot less acidic and eating less antacids now that my body is acclimating to the change in beverages.
I am so tired of being the weight I am and Dad's plan is doing wonders for both he and Jason. I will be so happy just to see the underside of 300 lbs but, for the moment, I will settle for fitting into the jeans Dad has out-shrunk and sent down to me.
I'll have to take measurements again.....ugh. Its pathetic that the measuring tape won't even fully wrap around certain parts of my anatomy!

Seriously girl... steamed white rice with cilantro and fresh lime... it's easy to make, and do die for!
ReplyDeleteYou go girl! Sounds like a pretty good plan.
ReplyDeleteHopefully you're donating any of the food you're throwing out to someone. ;)
If you plan to include hummus in your diet, I recommend making it yourself. (That is, if you have a food processor.). Leah and I have a pretty good recipe posted on the recipe blog, and the last few times we've made it we've used less of the Tahini and very little to no olive oil (just use more of the Chickpea juice to get the consistency).
Still VERY yummy, but healthier.
FYI - not all the recipes on the blog are healthy.
ReplyDeleteWe've been thinking of using tags to indicate some of the more healthy recipes but haven't really implemented them just yet.
Good job, Shawna. I fought back against the ice cream that had been taunting me from the fridge all week and it died a hot-watery death in the sink this morning. Sometimes you just have to get rid of it all. Not having it around makes such a difference.
